Meet your Buffalo Kenny Award winners and Jimmy Award Nominees! Check out some of their preparation for the Jimmy's and don't miss them perform at the Minskoff on Monday, June 25 at 7:30 pm. The ceremony will be streamed live at the Jimmy Awards https://www.facebook.com/JimmyAwards/
Following, Carlisle Lipke led the students through a lyrical exercise in order to help them gain a better grasp on the importance of understanding the lyrics behind a piece of music. This was done using the two pieces that Emily and Chris will be taking with them to perform for the coaches and judges at the Jimmy Awards.
The last coaching was with Tara Scime, a Kenny judge and professional dance instructor. She instructed the two students on the best ways to present themselves to their peers and the judges once they arrive in New York City. She focused on posture and composure and how the students should consider every moment as part of the auditioning process.
All of these exercises were done not only to prepare for the Jimmy Awards, but also to help with the future theatrical and professional careers of Emily and Chris.
As a special treat at the end of their informative session, the students had the opportunity to hear feedback and advice from two prior Kenny winners and Jimmy Award nominees Ian Hayes (2017) and Joe Russi (2016). This gave Emily and Chris time to interact with fellow students who have been in their shoes and who can help to provide them with a better insight on what to expect when they get to New York City.
